Our Mission
Katarah’s Hope, formally Black Stars, has been present since 2019. With the help of the community, we are providing exceptional enrichment and leadership development opportunities to the youth in the North Carolina and Virginia areas. We offer youth an opportunity to create and mold their own unique experiences through our wide range of educational and community support activities. We see the true power that our youth hold, and we have made it our mission to transform them into natural born leaders, advocates and concerned citizens in this world.
Our History
Welcome all! This organization was established in July 2019 under the name Black Stars. This was an idea my daughter, Katarah came up with. She wanted to get involved with her community in hopes that others will follow suit. Katarah wanted to help create a positive space for young people. We noticed it was a lot of bullying going on, drug use, gang affiliation, excessive social media usage and a lot of other negative things going on with her age group. As a mom, we will do anything to help our kids when it comes to something positive. So we began with having a fishing trip, we held a paint and sip, hair workshop, we fed the homeless and went through different communities and provided groceries and lunches. Once Covid came into our lives things slowed down some but not completely. Unfortunately In October, we lost Katarah. She was only 14 years old. To honor her and her legacy, we decided to change the name to Katarah’s Hope and to continue on with her mission.
